'Colour and Light'

Thursday 27th March 6pm - 13th April 2014 5pm.

At "M16 Artspace" 21 Blaxland Crescent, Griffith Canberra

The strong colours and bright lights of the Australian Landscape have influenced Andrew’s first exhibition, titled Colour and Light. Colour and Light brings together a series of oil and acrylic paintings that capture the Australian light in a unique style. In recent years, Andrew has focused on the science of light and colour to depict the landscape, mainly around Canberra. Andrew has carefully watched landscapes change throughout the day and throughout the seasons. Taking note of how nature will highlight one element of a landscape after another over time, Andrew has developed this series of paintings. Andrew prefers to work on large canvases using vibrant colours in an impasto style to mimic the ever-changing landscape as light and shadows move across the canvas during the day.

Several of his popular Autumn Lovers series of paintings are included in the Colour and Light exhibition. These modern abstract impressionistic style paintings capture Canberra’s stunning autumn scenes mixed with the emotion of love.
